Thank you for stopping by our website! We are Elyria Gardens, a family-grown, greenhouse and plant shop with two locations in central Nebraska. We gave Elyria Gardens its namesake in honor of Elyria, Nebraska, the small, rural town with a population of 65 where we put down roots as an 8-acre truck garden in 1991. At that time, George and Sharon Boe (Mom & Dad) grew fresh tomatoes, cucumbers, eggplant, green beans, sweetcorn, pumpkins and watermelon. They quickly put up a retail greenhouse that began growing beautiful annual and perennial flowers, roses, herbs and garden vegetable plants and seeds for sale in the spring and early summer. In 2005, with some good ol' sweat equity and the help of a few extra family helpers, they expanded by hand-building a second greenhouse and plant store, located just north of HWY 30 between Kearney and Gibbon. Now in its second generation of ownership, George and Sharon's children have taken over the growing responsibilities. The original location is owned and operated by their oldest son, Jeff Boe, with assistance from his son, Lane. The Kearney/Gibbon store is owned and operated by George and Sharon's youngest son and daughter in-law, Allen and AnnDréa Boe. Today both greenhouses are expanding beyond our previously spring-only operations! We now offer plants that celebrate all four seasons, houseplants and succulents that brighten up your indoor spaces, and landscape design and installation. We know how much plants connect us to something bigger than ourselves, and we enjoy celebrating the uniqueness of each season here on the Great Plains of Nebraska. We are proud to be a part of our local communities, and work hard to grow healthy, happy plants for our visitors. We love our plants, and we want you to love your plants, too!
