No mesh hernia repair is always our preferred technique. We only use mesh when it is absolutely necessary and the benefits clearly outweigh the risks. The minimally invasive no-touch technique of hernia repair with the mesh placed between the muscle layers or covered by the peritoneum (the lining of the abdominal cavity) has a low rate of mesh-related complications and is our preferred choice for the majority of our patients who require mesh repair.
