Henry's Home is an all-volunteer 501c3 nonprofit sanctuary that takes in rescued and surrendered horses, and other farm animals, and gives them a forever home and meaningful work in our Herdmate [volunteer] Program, our [HHELP] Horses & Heroes Equine Learning Program, and our Veterans/First Responder Vocational Training Program. Herdmate Program - volunteers over the age of 18 can come learn and work with horse care chores, land and building projects, as well as the nonprofit business. Learn as you go with mentors. Hours are flexible as we all pitch in to take care of these 30 rescued and surrendered horses, as well as the business. No horse experience necessary. Horses & Heroes Equine Learning Program - Veterans and First Responders, and their live-with family members, can join our civilian volunteers in all horse care and land chores, but are also invited to take ground training, arena riding and trail riding lessons, at no cost. Horses are simply the very best therapists and teachers. If you are dealing with trauma, anxiety, depression, anger, addiction recovery, loneliness, grief, or the other stuff that life causes, often exacerbated by serving others in such high-stress situations, this may be a great way to heal. Join a family of peers and civilians, all learning together to understand and control our emotions, energy, body language, communication skills and thoughts, by way of the radical honesty and in-the-moment thinking of these horses. Veteran/First Responder Vocational Training Program - Interested in learning new construction and land management skills, and you are a veteran or first responder? Come learn with our team of wonderful professionals and business owners, most veterans themselves, the skills you need to get started, for no cost. Learn by working on real-life projects that help out your community everyday here at the sanctuary. Volunteer or Team Building Day Program - If you have a group at work or community that wants to join us for a volunteer project, we would love to have them out, put them to work in a fun and healing environment. If you have a need for a teambuilding session, our professionals can provide a unique experiential learning opportunity, working with these horses to help your members, managers and leaders optimize strengths and enjoy challenges with this exciting and unique learning model.
