Whatever you can envision is within the realm of who you are. So when you try to change yourself, you reinforce the self you are trying to transform. For example, you wouldn't be trying to love yourself if you didn't dislike yourself. You evolved organically and largely unconsciously. Any meaningful change must occur in a similar way. Awareness changes consciousness; consciousness changes the parameters of the phenomenon called you. Human dilemmas are not "disorders" or "dysfunctions" but rather phenomenon to be related to. You can not evolve yourself, but as you relate to phenomena your experience changes both within and around you.
